Under the indirect supervision of the EEG Coordinator or MD, the Inpatient EEG Technologist records neurophysiologic potentials by means of electronic equipment for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews physician's orders/ referring documents report from previous appointments. Prepares patients for procedures; explains procedure, measures for accurate electrode sites, applies electrodes and adjusts as appropriate. Performs all test procedures as ordered by the physician. Monitors and records patients reaction to specific activities such as breathing directions or the introduction of various stimuli, in a thorough and accurate manner. Summarizes patients neurologic status and clinical history from the chart, patient, or other persons. Explains recording procedure to patient and family members.
