Why This Role?
This is not your average EEG position. You'll be right at the intersection of complex epilepsy surgery and cutting-edge neurodiagnostic care — supporting Phase II evaluations, intraoperative ECoG, extra-operative mapping, and more. If you thrive in high-acuity environments and want to be part of a team that's changing outcomes for epilepsy patients, this is your seat at the table.
What You'll Own
You'll be embedded in a fast-moving epilepsy program supporting surgical and clinical teams across the full care continuum:
• Phase II Surgical Support: Support pre-surgical and surgical epilepsy procedures, including Phase II EEG evaluations (sEEG and grid EEG), pre-operative prep, and intraoperative electrocorticography (ECoG).
• Perioperative Monitoring: Perform peri-operative individualized montage building, post-operative Phase II hook-up, and ongoing monitoring with daily troubleshooting and checks.
• Mapping & SPECT Protocols: Assist the epileptologist with extra-operative bedside mapping, EEG for Wada testing, and lead and build EEG ictal SPECT protocols for adult and pediatric EMU patients.
• Clinical EEG: Perform EEGs across clinical labs, inpatient units, and the emergency department.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams, educate patients and families, assist with staff training, and ensure specialized equipment is properly maintained.
• Technical Expertise: Apply basic knowledge of specialized EEG studies and adapt recording techniques to document physiologic and other potentials as needed.
• Mentorship: Assist senior technologists with classroom teaching and staff training.
• After-Hours Coverage: Provide after-hours support for monitoring troubleshooting and respond on-site to urgent requests following surgical procedures.
