Position Title: Neurodiagnostic Epilepsy Surgery IOM/Advanced EEG Technologist
The Neurodiagnostic Epilepsy Surgery IOM/Advanced EEG Technologist will provide advanced neurodiagnostic services to support pre-surgical and surgical epilepsy procedures. Responsibilities include Phase II EEG evaluations (e.g., stereo EEG and grid EEG cases), intra-operative electrocorticography (e.g., electrode integrity checks, intra-operative EEG mapping), individualized montage building, post-operative Phase II monitoring, and supporting extra-operative mapping procedures. The technologist will also assist with Wada testing, lead ictal SPECT protocols, and provide advanced training to EEG staff. Services are performed in operating rooms, Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMUs), clinical labs, inpatient units, and emergency departments.
Support pre-surgical and surgical epilepsy procedures including Phase II EEG evaluations (stereo EEG, grid EEG, etc.) and intra-operative electrocorticography.
Perform peri-operative individualized montage building and post-operative Phase II hook-up and monitoring, including daily troubleshooting and checks.
Assist epileptologists with extra-operative bedside mapping procedures, EEG for Wada testing, and lead ictal SPECT protocol development for adult and pediatric EMU patients.
Conduct EEG studies across clinical labs, inpatient units, and emergency departments.
Train and mentor EEG technicians in advanced neurodiagnostic procedures.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams, educate patients and families, assist with staff training, and ensure proper maintenance of specialized equipment.
Perform specialized studies and adapt recording techniques to document physiologic or other potentials.
Evaluate procedures during recordings to determine if higher-level interpretation is required.
Assist with classroom teaching of technicians in training, under the direction of department leadership.
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment and software.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret appropriate information, and identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age and specific needs.

Education Required:
High School Diploma
Education Preferred:
Graduate of an Electroneurodiagnostic Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
Licensure/Certification Required:
Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)
Current CPR certification
Licensure/Certification Preferred:
Certified in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM/NIOM) by ABRET
Experience Required:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a neurodiagnostic setting
At least one (1) year of Phase II EEG monitoring experience (e.g., sEEG) at a Level 4 NAEC epilepsy center
Experience Preferred:
Proficiency in two (2) or more electroneurodiagnostic modalities (EEG, AEEG, EMU, PSG, etc.)
Competitive hourly rate: $40–$60 per hour (commensurate with experience and market standards)
