Preoperative Assessment
Review medical history and prepare patients
Explain monitoring procedures clearly and compassionately
Apply recording electrodes with precision
Equipment Setup & Calibration
Configure neuromonitoring systems for peak performance
Troubleshoot issues seamlessly
Intraoperative Monitoring
Monitor neurological function throughout surgery
Analyze electrophysiological changes in real time
Collaborate with surgeons and OR teams for optimal outcomes
Data Interpretation
Interpret complex waveforms
Correlate findings with surgical events
Communicate findings to clinical staff
Documentation
Maintain accurate and thorough records of all monitoring activity
Quality and Improvement
Support continuous improvement and high clinical standards
Professional Development
Participate in continuing education and advanced training
CNIM required
COVID vaccination documentation
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees welcome
Valid driver’s license
Current AHA CPR certification
3–4 years of IONM experience, including advanced cases
Ability to take call
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and surgical pathology
Ability to perform precise electrode application
Expert waveform analysis skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Physical ability to navigate and work within the OR
