EEG / EMU Technician I & EEG Technologist II

Full-Time | Day and Night Shift | Rotating 10-Hour Shifts

As a member of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) team, you will play a vital role in caring for patients with seizure disorders while working alongside experienced neurologists, epileptologists, and neurodiagnostic professionals.

Position Overview

The EEG/EMU Technician is responsible for monitoring patients undergoing epilepsy evaluation, recognizing and documenting seizure activity, operating advanced EEG and video monitoring equipment, and supporting the clinical team in delivering exceptional patient care.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment while developing specialized expertise in epilepsy monitoring and neurodiagnostics.

Schedule

  • Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Rotating 10-hour shifts
  • Weekend coverage required
  • Day or Night shift position

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
  • Identify, document, and report seizure activity
  • Operate EEG, video monitoring, and related neurodiagnostic equipment
  • Apply and maintain scalp and, when applicable, implanted electrodes
  • Assist with specialized treatments and interventions for patients experiencing seizures
  • Troubleshoot equipment and recording artifacts
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, and caregivers
  • Respond appropriately to acute medical situations, including convulsive seizures
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data collection to support diagnosis and treatment planning

EEG / EMU Technician I Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP or ABHES-accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program strongly preferred
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Minimum of one year of EEG experience required if an accredited END program was not completed
  • Current BLS certification required

EEG Technologist II Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP or ABHES-accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program strongly preferred
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Current ABRET credential (R. EEG T.) or equivalent certification required
  • Minimum of two years of EEG experience or equivalent related experience
  • Current BLS certification required

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of EEG waveforms, electrographic seizures, and interictal abnormalities
  • Ability to recognize artifacts and ensure high-quality recordings
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Experience troubleshooting EEG equipment and monitoring systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Compensation

  • Starting Rate: $26.86/hour
  • Maximum Rate: $49.31/hour
  • Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity
